Fitness Workout for Men

Bodybuilding.com’s newest line of plant-based supplements features a vegan protein powder to serve those looking to avoid animal products.  This supplement is ideal for athletes and those looking for a complete protein without antibiotics, gluten, corn, eggs, sugar, or GMO ingredients. One 30-gram scoop has 70 calories, 22 grams of protein, 2 grams of carbohydrates, 1.5 grams of fat, and 0 grams of sugar. It is sweetened with plant based stevia extract and uses dutch cocoa for a smoother, darker, richer, and less acidic taste.

The post-workout consumption of protein has been extensively shown to increase muscle strength, size, performance while also helping decrease muscle soreness and body fat (1).

Research has shown pea protein to have similar results on muscle growth as compared to dairy or egg based proteins (2). In a 8-week human study, it was found that athletes performing high-intensity functional training had similar fitness outcomes in measurements of body composition, muscle thickness, force production, WOD performance and strength with pea protein compared to whey (3). The greatest benefit of consuming plant-derived proteins is that they may help minimize the risk of several metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, cancer, and heart-related disorders (4).
