A randomized placebo-controlled study found that a 300mg dose of Ashwagandha for 90 days led to improved memory, focus and psychological well-being (9). A clinical animal trial found that Ashwagandha supplementation increased oxygen consumption and enhanced mitochondrial activity in brown fat and skeletal muscle, leading to enhanced energy expenditure (10). In human trials, those supplementing with ashwagandha had improvements in fatigue and vigor (11). Lastly, a study found that Ashwagandha supplementation by chronically stressed overweight individuals enhanced metabolism (12).
