Comedian and mother Amy Schumer is ready for summer — not with a blanket and an umbrella but with self-love and a hot attitude. Yesterday, she shared an Instagram photo of her posing in lingerie, heels, and sunglasses next to a rack full of dumbbells. The caption says, “C section. Hysterectomy. Lipo. This summer is about letting the love in. Trying to be healthy and strong for myself and my family. I want to feel hot too. In my prime. Let’s go. Who’s with me?”
Schumer’s body has been through so much in the past few years. After being hospitalized in 2018 due to hyperemesis gravidarum (severe morning sickness), she happily welcomed her son, Gene, in May 2019 via cesarean section. Schumer wasn’t shy about sharing postpartum pics of her C-section scar, and years later, she says she still thinks it “looks cute.”
In addition, Schumer was also suffering from endometriosis, so in September 2021, she underwent a hysterectomy and also had her appendix removed (because the disease had also attacked it). After healing from that procedure, Schumer decided to have liposuction surgery, which she’s been super honest about since. “I wanted to share it with people,” she told Hoda Kotb in March on the podcast “Making Space With Hoda Kotb.” “I just can’t do it. I can’t be like, ‘Yeah, crunches. And I’ve just been eating smoked salmon,’ you know? So I had to be real.” Schumer says she felt bad about it because she knows she’s privileged to be able to have this kind of surgery. And with her amazing sense of humor, she said, “People with money, they also drive nice cars. So, my ‘nice car’ is that I had, you know, a liter of fat sucked out of my belly.”
With all the pain Schumer’s endured in the last few years, she’s more than deserving of a “hot girl summer.” She can be strong and healthy for herself and her family and relish in all the goodness that is her “prime.” We’re fully on board with Olivia Culpo‘s comment on Schumer’s recent post: “You are hottttttt”!
