I consider myself a YouTube workout connoisseur. When I’m test-driving a new routine, the first place I go is the YouTube comment section. People get real honest down there. When a workout is good, you can tell by how excited and passionate the commenters become.

While I was browsing around for new cardio workouts, these Urrbanize dance routines caught my eye for exactly that reason. One commenter said dance instructor Tanju K. “saved my mental health” during the pandemic lockdowns, another person said they’d been doing his workouts “over and over again,” and almost everyone praised his smile, his music choice, and his “infectious” joy. With those kind of reviews, I had to hit play, and it didn’t take me long to understand the hype.

First, there’s the music: super upbeat pop remixes you can’t help but dance along to, from Spice Girls to Steve Aoki to ABBA, and they just get better as the workout continues. Then there are the moves, which are fun and energetic but still simple enough for beginners. Tanju K. himself has mega charisma; even though he lets the music do the talking during the workout (keep an eye on the screen while you dance, because there are no vocal cues!), his positive energy beams through the screen. You can tell he’s having fun and it makes you want to join in!

Check out the workouts to experience his charismatic energy for yourself. (Part two is above and part one is below, but you can do them in any order.) You don’t need any equipment, just a willingness to get sweaty and burn up to 500 calories!
