Fitness

I can’t remember what came first: my personal or professional interest in exercise. The truth is, I began working out right around the same time I began writing about it a full 15 years ago. As a result, I’ve always been sympathetic to the fitness beginner, even after I stopped considering myself one.

In the early 2010s, diet culture was alive, well, and largely unexamined. In women’s media especially, exercising was overwhelmingly talked about as a way to lose weight, under dozens of euphemisms (slim down, tone up, uncover your bikini body).

As someone who exercised, I knew that people worked out for many reasons: to manage chronic illness, for general mental or physical well-being, to challenge themselves, for the simple thrill of an endorphin rush. I became intimately familiar with how boring, alienating, and harmful it could be to read about a version of fitness that left me out.

That’s why I’m excited to say that no matter where you are on your fitness journey, you’re welcome at PS Fitness. We are committed to making fitness inclusive and equitable, acknowledging the very real barriers that impact people’s health and fitness, from fatphobia to ableism to racism to financial hardship.

Free workouts and information are the foundation of everything we do. PS (formerly known as POPSUGAR) has long dominated the fitness space as the No. 1 source for free at-home workouts on YouTube, and that’s not changing. We will continue to create workouts for every fitness level, including no-equipment exercises, HIIT workouts, yoga flows, photo how-tos, and video tutorials. However, we are rebranding our popular video series — Class Fitsugar, Dance Fitsugar, and Breathe Fitsugar — under a single brand: PS Fit.

Within PS Fit, you’ll find videos ranging from five to 60 minutes in length. You can choose to exercise specific body parts (abs, legs, arms, etc.), opt for beginner to advanced workouts, and select the level of intensity that works for you. Maybe you want to combine your cardio with dance via a salsa, ’90s pop, or hip-hop workout. If you’re in the mood for stretching, yoga, or meditation, we’ve got you covered there, too. Whatever you choose, you can be confident that all of our workouts are designed and led by knowledgeable and credentialed experts.

Of course, that commitment to accessibility and expertise also extends to our .com and social content. At PS Fitness, we deliver no-bullshit commentary on wellness trends and first-person road tests of fitness gear. We report critically on diet culture and its effects, including viral diets or supplements and extreme fitness challenges, so you know what’s really worth trying.

We provide the research-backed tools and motivation to help you take the next step, whatever that looks like for you.

Wishing you well,
