Simple Ways of Working Out to Get Ready for Summer

You heard that right. We’re getting closer to summer and ever-closer to the season when we show the most skin. During winter, we hide away with our ice cream, watching the snow melt, and living in our favorite puffer jacket (until May, when it becomes our least favorite thing we own), waiting for the time when we get to jump into a body of water (hopefully sans clothes and man boobs), and cool off after consuming every ray from the sun we possibly can.

Let’s get ready for summer

For those of us who live in inclement weather for a significant part of the year, we can slip up on our physical activity because it’s literally freezing outside, and we can’t even show off a finger, much less a midriff. Some of us live in Florida year-round, and our bodies are always on our minds, but some of us don’t.

Whatever the case of your geographical location, keeping your body in top shape aesthetically and internally is essential all year.

Walk the walk

One of the best ways you can start a workout routine is by simply walking. This low-impact exercise is something you can do almost anytime and anywhere at any age. No wonder people put “long walks” as one of their favorite romantic activities.

Long walks can be a good way to clear your head, work some muscles, and burn some calories.

Though it won’t get you super toned like weight lifting or yoga, it will stimulate weight loss and get you prepared for a higher impact exercise when you’re ready. Don’t underestimate how implementing walks into your routine can help you both mentally and physically.

Start with small weights

You don’t have to go crazy and buy all the best equipment to work out at home. You don’t even have to buy a gym membership if you don’t want to. You can, however, buy some smaller items that will help you to tone your muscles over time.

One of the best ways to do this is to purchase some relatively inexpensive 10-pound or 5-pound weights to use at any lags during the day, or at a designated time in the morning and evening. So much of continued exercising relies on a schedule and routine.

If you start doing this consistently, you’ll make it a habit! Try and combine this with a medicine ball for the best results.

Good old-fashioned push-ups and sit-ups

Yes, you read that right. One of the best ways to stay in shape without having to push yourself over the edge is with the simple stuff. Some of us don’t even know how to do a push-up properly, and it shows.

Doing some push-ups and sit-ups in the morning or before bed will prepare your body for that immaculate summer.

Wrap-Up

With summer right around the corner, it’s time to focus on simple activities to get in shape. Start small, be consistent and you will get ready for summer in no time!
